I've been working on this reel for a few weeks. 👇
Starting, stopping, getting another line or two edited, coming back to it another day, etc.
Then something terrible happened in my orbit, to a sweet family that my family has enjoyed many memories with over many years... it rocked us.
The passing of a father and husband, brother and friend. He was less than 3 months older than me and it's shocking and hard and tragic and heartbreaking.
The loss of a friend, who time stole from us too soon.
A man I've known since I was a teenager. A man who became a friend to myself and my husband. A man who's kids grew up with mine. A man we'd let the busy side of life keep us from getting together with since covid. A man we will all miss.
His purpose was to bring light and joy and laughter to every room he entered.
His purpose was served out in every hello he said.
No matter how long it had been,
he always greeted you with genuine joy,
grateful that he was seeing you.
He knew who he was.
He knew who God created him to be.
HE SHARED THAT WITH THE WORLD. UNASHAMED. He was kind, he cared, he served, he loved, and he leaves behind 2 heartbroken kids & a wife whose world got flipped upside down, with no warning, in an instant.
Stop living life frustrated. It's too short to waste.

🎯 I ventured to Target today after picking up my coffee, to scope out an at home espresso solution for next year.

Letting go of my perfect blend is going to be difficult.
It's a vital piece of my self-care rituals & routines.
My coffee even has it's own section in one of the chapters in my memior I just finished writing.

But in 2025 it's changing.

I heard the call to write this book in spring of 2021 and I immediately became paralyzed in my productivity.
I wasn't trying to write a memior... fiction is my jam!
I didn't believe anyone would care if I did, like anyone.
I thought I had nothing "real" or helpful to share. At all.
Who am I? Why should anyone care? Who will read it?
Over the last 3 yrs as I obediently walked through life, I was juggling my family, my responsibilities at home, my business/brand, and my faith goals, all while trying to complete an assignment as vulnerable, raw, honest and powerful as the one I'd been given.
To tell HIStory through mine.
I fought it at first; denying it (Peter?),
then procrastinating in disbelief (Moses?),
then finally doubting it (Thomas?),
but I never quit. I had been assigned (Rebecca).
Eventually it got easier to write, and when I was at my most Dazzling, the words poured out of me with ease.
Over the span of the last 16 weeks, after countless hours of writing, numerous technology complications, broken down vehicles, SO MUCH life stress, and an incredible amount of doubt, I finished writing the book. 🤩🥳🤯
The obstacles get greater the closer to pushing through to the finished product I get, but I will not quit. There's too much on the line for other people. I just know it in my soul. If you wish to support me through the process. Be sure to follow along on my IG, Threads & FB too!
I've debated publishing routes thru most of the process. Finally, now that it's done, I've discerned how I'm supposed to get it published so, stay tuned for updates & opportunities to be a part of the project!

🌎 Earth Day is a great day to begin practicing "earthing" exercises too! So, let's start NOW!
Now that it's here, warmer weather will begin to stay!!!
🌞 When the weather is warmer, I like to utilize it in as many ways as possible in my self-care.
How about you?
🎊 Warm weather also brings with it all of the end of school year celebrations, the impending doom of swimsuit weather, and tons of other stressors for me.
😬 We can find ourselves slowly growing overwhelmed or burnt out if we aren't proactive. Grounding can help.
🌿 As these concerns begin to arise for you, consider taking a moment in the day, to slow down & connect intentionally to the earth through an "earthing"/grounding activity.
I find I can easily get clear & focused again inside my head. So, I made this to help you begin the practice.
Making time regularly for you to begin doing the same thing, can help you to clear your head too.
You can slow the spinning thoughts in your brain more easily when you get grounded, and not in the coffee bean kind of way.
🔌More like, in the, plug yourself back into the dirt & the earth kind of grounded.
Make time in your day where you proactively choose to step away from the demands on your attention, just a few minutes, to reconnect with the natural earth, the present place and time that you exist in, and yourself.
So, head outside & replay this as many times as you need to read through it Darling! ♾ Maybe save it? 🔖

Over the weekend my mom took me to see Annie the Musical @playhousesquare in the CLE and it was absolutely incredible. The entire cast, crew, lights & sounds teams, as well as the orchestra, ALL incredible!
I keep thinking about how awesome the children in the cast did, and how it would have been my dream to be doing what they were doing when I watched the original movie many moons ago... until middle school, when I got a taste for the stage & safely settled into the behind the scenes stuff that is! A dream I let go of.
It's also had me thinking about Carol Burnett and how incredible she was in that original movie that I fell in love with at 4 years old... such a funny "villian". Such a brilliant actress. So, over the weekend, when I was looking for the next quote I'd post, and I came across this quote, it was hands down the one.

If you're anything like me, you spend your days pouring into others. Your coworkers, your spouse, your partner, your kids, your friends, your extended family...

Pouring out of you, into the lives and tasks around you.
Depleting yourself for the "greater good".
Choosing to live selflessly, to be a giver, a doer, a helper.
Drying your own cup in the process...
BUT, how often do these people actually pour back into you? Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Sometimes it may feel like they pour into you more frequently than other times. Occasionally it may feel like for all the pouring you do, nobody is pouring back into you at all.
I'm going to make a controversial statement...
Brace yourself, it may come as a shock...
I don't believe we are supposed to pour into others.
I don't believe we are supposed to deplete ourselves for those around us... no matter who they are!
I don't believe it's necessary to pour from ourselves.
I BELIEVE WE'RE SUPPOSED TO FILL OUR OWN CUP FIRST, ABUNDANTLY, THEN LET THE OVERFLOW SPILL OUT INTO THE WORLD ALL AROUND US!!!
If we leave the job of filling ourselves up to other people WE WILL RUN DRY. This benefits NO ONE!
Darling, you were created to overflow your abundantly full cup out into the world.

💖 I created this place with big visions, grand purpose, and a boatload of excitement. Except, as with many things, sometimes I try to run before I'm even successfully walking confidently.
🖤 Launching this brand at the end of 2020, and the vision I had for it, is one of those situations where I was barreling towards that end vision, without even a fraction of the bench markers placed to help me navigate there with success and stamina to spare... thus, I burned out.
💜 I spent much of 2023 pulled back, regaining my focus, navigating an incredibly trying season of life, reassuring my vision for Dazzling District, & strategizing a plan before resuming "business as usual" this year.
💚 I had to practice what I preach. I've already learned how to fill my cup first, I just had to prioritize it, because the magic in my cup was running low. 🫶

This is what I had to do the entire month of May.
The saying goes, April showers, bring May flowers... well, my April brought symbolic showers to my life, but they were even more torrential as May arrived.
I felt. in a moment, an absolute need to self-preserve in what felt like the beginning of a Job-like season in my life.
So, I let myself. No guilt.
Gearing up to face the storm ahead.
Trials. Fear. Uncertainty.
A need to walk in faith and the wisdom to keep my head down and take the season as it came. And I did for the last 6 weeks.
Now, we definitely experienced some "flower" moments through the month, but it was a challenging month as a whole.
A truly faith defining month for me. I grew.

⬆️ THIS IS TRUTH and I hope it encourages you this week!
➡️ Last week was a doozy in my world. (sorry for the scarcity here).
😶There were a number of incidents involving my kiddos that shook things up in my world. Outside of our control.
🥺There were multiple close calls, that could have, easily may have, and thank the good Lord DID NOT end with far scarier & worse outcomes.
💜 By Wednesday I was in need of intentional time slowing down, resting, and I let myself take it... no guilt.
☀️ A week of welcome sunshine and scary close calls tried to destroy my progress. Shake me off my path.
🤨BUT the work I've done in my own care, healing & growing, mind, body & spirit, helped me endure it.
😘 It was far from a perfect week & I messed up plenty through it still.
😰 Making decisions in my fear and uncertainty that were less than my most Dazzling moments BUT through it all I was reassured by this song.
🥰 Reassured for me.
🥰 Reassured for my girls.
🥰 Reassured for the future of our family in THIS TRUTH.
🥳 Today I'm ready to charge forward again thanks to all the grace & rest!

😓It's a term I use to refer to being worn out & lacking in energy, enthusiasm, or any true moments of joy.
🥱When you feel physically and mentally fatigued beyond understanding.
🏃♀️You may be running through the motions daily but not intentionally refueling your mind, body or spirit during the process.
😖Sometimes referred to as burn-out, drained, frazzled, overwhelmed, or stuck.
🧐Symptoms are as follows: Easily Agitated, Extra Cynical, Short Tempered, Exhausted & Burnt-Out
☝If one or more of these things feel familiar to you, then you may either be on your way to, or already living with an empty cup...
🤨It's time to change that!

🤷♀️ Well, at least this is the case for me AND I strongly believe it's the case for many others too.
😣 When the busy sets in and you're always going and always around people, or in the extreme opposition, as isolation drains you of interaction & joy, it can be easy to find yourself in the throws of an #ECS episode... feeling empty & broken.
💜 Knowing that this is the case is the first step to making your way out of it.

😉 Now, let me share a tiny piece of my story...
💜 13 years ago I was nesting hard, inching closer to my due date with Baby Girl #3, and trying to settle into my new role as SAHM. I had just left my Full-time Management position & was putting my "career" on the back burner to be hands on with our girls & in our home as our family grew.
🙃 I was excited AND I was scared. I had never planned for kids and had always been ambitious, now suddenly life had me in the middle of this season, embracing our chaos in the only way that made sense at the time.
🤔 Looking back, if I had been capable of owning my story sooner, I could have saved myself many difficulties, BUT my journey to Dazzling happened in the exact right chapter of my story.
🥰 Today, I celebrated by owning my story, beginning my 13th year as a SAHM. I have been bit by the tidy up bug and today I embraced this season by tidying the house, running a few errands, clearing & cleaning the sink and being ready for a Barbie play sesh with my favorite almost eight year old!
😍 An absolute SUCCESS of a day!!!

☘ Happy March!!! We are officially in month 3, nearly closing out the first quarter of this year... already.

😟 This year has been off to a pretty tricky start for me too, not complaining, just sharing...
🤬 2 days into 2023 the transmission went on my van (of which I must still make 4 payments on before it's paid off) PLUS, my 3 girls still at home all depend on me for school transportation...
😕 My holiday stuff was still up taunting me daily for most of the month, like I'm a slacker because the motivation for that project escaped me this year... I digress. I finally got it finished at the end of last week.
😖 In general my mood has been pretty sour and short on patience... even though I DO feel optimistic about 2023 BUT,
🤯 All of this reminds me that in these winter months, I NEED to be even more intentional about prioritizing my care: mind, body AND spirit!
😳 Because this time of year the S.A.D. can kick my hiney with little to no warning! 👟🍑 SERIOUSLY!

I will be taking a short hiatus from social media.
Creating content and social media account managing is a full time job.
🕳 Doing this neccessary part of growing a brand and creating a business can have a way of becoming a black hole, all consuming, sadly even overwhelming at times.
😖 When this happens it can become so much easier to slip into a state of Frazzled, my needs & care stop being as easy to prioritize when I'm not intentional.

🙋♀️I'll be honest, when I first felt the call to create Dazzling District early in 2019, my vision was almost entirely void of a social media plan or strategy...

🎶 This musical has been on my mind a lot lately as these last days of my thirties tick away, counting down the moments, tick, tick, until BOOM my forties begin.🤯
😍 I fell in love with Jonathan Larson's creative genius as a bright eyed 13 year old waaaaaaay back in '96 & honestly my life was never the same.
🪄💫🤨 His work gave me a magical confidence in being authentically me, one that I likely never would have found without it.
💔 I was much older before I learned that sadly, he had passed away the night before Rent's opening. In that moment, I think the ticking started in my brain too.... ⏰
💜 I had always thought #Rent was his one and only, (it was after all the pre "internet stalk every celebrity, artist or athlete you love" era when I first fell in love with his work) I always wished he'd have had time for more...
🎬Then Netflix released "Tick Tick Boom" with the wildly talented Andrew Garfield as Jonathan... and again his creative genius, (touched by some other inspirational & truly incredibly talented minds) changed my life!
🐦 This line was the single most powerful moment in the entire show for me, despite absolutely loving it from start to finish.
🥰 This will be the anthem of my 40's.
🙏Thank the Good Lord that I've been blessed with nearly 40 years so far.
🤝 I try so hard not to take it for granted, let this next chapter further reflect that in my actions while I still have the time.

December 1st.
🥳 It used to just be the day at the very beginning of my birthday month... the day I faithfully entered another December full of being 2nd to Jesus' birthday, despite feeling forgettable.
😍 Then at the age of 18, it became the day the greatest love of my life asked me to be his girl, exclusively... and I faithfully leaned into it, despite fearing relationship failure again.
😭 After celebrating over 15 years of being his girl & growing our family, it also became a grief filled day as I took in the sadness of losing a dear friend to cancer too soon... and faithfully stepped into my own personal grief journey, inspired by her, despite being utterly heartbroken.
🤨 2 years ago it became the day I launched Dazzling District, an idea I had seemingly on a whim, that I faithfully nurtured & created while listening to the still small voice inside, despite feeling overwhelming doubt & unshakable fear in my "purpose".
🥰 Today it's a day that holds a history of me making faith-filled steps...... all of which have impacted powerful change... and this year, this day will be no different for me.

🖥 The other night my husband and I started watching a new series that intrigued me from #NatGeo available on #DisneyPlus called #Limitless with @chrishemsworth ... 🦸♀️(honestly speaking I am a HUGE Superhero movie nerd, but Thor was never my favorite superhero until the last installment #ThorLoveAndThunder but I do like Chris) so I was excited about the concept for this show.
🐌 We only watched the 1st of the 6 episodes so far, it targeted stress. I'm trying to pace it instead of binging them all immediately.
🥳 After watching, I'm proud to say I knew & have been practicing all of the strategies demonstrated over the last 3-5 years to help hack my stress, and I'm an even bigger fan of his now!

🙃That whole quarantine season was weird right? I mean, this last year life seems to be getting back to whatever this new normal, post pandemic is.... and it's possible that for many, it feels weird or hard for some reason. 🤔 I think it's because, we were forced to be separated, we were isolated in ways MANY people aren't used to and for MUCH longer than any of us could have imagined. 😔 It forced us to be with ourselves, and that wasn't neccessarily an easy task for all of us.
💜For some it was a welcome break that slowly lost its appeal.
💜For some it was straight torture right away & only got harder.
💜Others may have struggled at the start but figured out a grove along the way.....
💜AND for many, I think you saw yourself & your life in a completely raw light & desired to use the time to improve upon yourself & your home. This can make going back to "the way things were before" a little trickier.
😘No matter what, you likely learned some things about yourself.
🥳Whether you liked what you learned or not, the beauty begins when you decide to be yourself. You can grow. You can heal. You can dream. But none of these things will work if you try to do them as an imposter!

QUICK STORY.......
😔 I didn't respect myself for a very long time...
🙃 I respected everyone & everything above my own needs, growth & happiness... & it nearly killed me.
🤕 I was broken, I was lonely, I was stagnant & I was basically miserable, BUT I pasted a smile on my face to serve the world & the people in my life & kept pushing through until I couldn't push through anymore....
🥺 Then I crashed, shattered into a million unidentifiable pieces of "me" & I had to figure out how to start putting together this "puzzle of me".
😣 I was desperate, but I didn't want to die, I wanted to figure out how to thrive! I was surrounded by blessings & I knew it, I just couldn't feel it, I was numb from pain.
